Sixteen Years Later

First Metallica experience
First time I heard of Metallica was when The Black Album was coming out.  I had MTV on and the VJ said something like, “Here’s the new one from the boys . . . Metallica, Enter Sandman.”  I watched the video and was impressed.  Hetfield’s Fu Manchu moustache always stuck out in my head as being cool.

Which Metallica member you identify with most. (Past, present, living, dead...)
In all honesty, I can identify with aspects of all the members.  I seem have a bit of the sense of humor that is always present in the band.  I can talk way too much like certain drummers we know.  Also, like Lars, when I’m into a band or whatever it happens to be I have to know EVERYTHING about it.    Horror movies and everything about them are another big part of my life.  Also, I guess like Hetfield, people tend to think I’m one way and then I throw them for a curve and show a bit of a softer side.  Also, with Metallica & their attitude as a whole, I guess I can relate to that as well.  most of the time, I could care less what other people think about what I do what I’m about.  I’m all for battling on when something or someone has got you down.  Ya know, not letting petty shit get to you.  “Charging hard and no one’s gonna give in . . .”  And like Jason, I’m very into funneling in as much information about something I’m into as possible.

Favorite Metallica album

Tough one.  I’d probably have to go with Live Shit:  Binge & Purge or S&M because they’re live albums.  They represent a nice mixture of what Metallica have done.  I have a lot of live bootlegs that I really dig, too.

Interests
play instruments?
No.  But in the car, I can sing along with most of my records & I do private concerts with passengers.  OK, not really a musical talent, more of an oddity, but . . . nevermind. Next question, please.

favorite movie
Dawn of the Dead.  Before I ever saw pictures of Cliff Burton wearing an original Dawn t-shirt, I was into this movie headstrong. This movie just kicks ass, plain and simple.

sports
Uhhh . . . not really.  I mean, I’ll play street basketball -- Air Bob style (which is sometimes graceful and sometimes cringe-inducing, but always painful). I ride my oldschool    ‘85 Mongoose around town when the weather is nice.

other bands you like
. . . . like Hetfield, “Oh, I dunno, there’s all kindsa shit. I can’t even start to think about it.”  Mouthpiece (NJ Hardcore at its finest), Hands Tied (NJ Hardcore at its second finest), Face The Enemy (new sXe hardcore from DC/Trenton), Dashboard Confessional, Further Seems Forever, Thursday, Weezer, The Ramones, The Killing Flame, The Misfits, Samhain, Danzig, DYS, BOLD, Youth Of Today, Gorilla Biscuits, Better Than A Thousand, In My Eyes, Turning Point, Never Surrender, The First Step, Running Like Thieves, Strife, Slayer, Sepultura, Echobrain, Dave Matthews Band (acoustic stuff), A.F.I., Cold, White Zombie/Rob Zombie, The Start, CKY, S.O.D., Godsmack, Slipknot, DOWN, Dramarama, Powerman 5000, Deftones, IR8, Quarteto Da Pinga, Corrosion of Conformity, No Doubt, Jimmy Eat World, Guns N’ Roses, and Goblin

other hobbies besides Metallica
My main other vice besides Metallica is Horror movies.  Anything and everything.  I watch ‘em, I own ‘em, I study ‘em, and I wanna make ‘em.  I also collect Horror movie paraphernailia which includes posters, t-shirts, videos/dvds, model kits, toys, buttons, books, scripts, 8 X 10’s, autographs; everything.  I’m also a kid at heart and love toys.  Toys based off movies are cool, but I’ve been buying way too many DVDs as of late, so that hobby has kinda taken a backseat.  Oldschool Nintendo kicks ass, too.  I love cartoons -- old ones, not this new crap that networks  try to pass off as “Saturday Morning Cartoons.”  I’m talking friggin’ Looney Tunes, Tex Avrey stuff (like Droopy Dog), the old MGM stuff (like Tom & Jerry), Friz Freling stuff, Woody   Woodpecker, and some of the early Disney stuff(Donald Duck is the shit).

Favorite Metallica quote
"You can't let what other people are gonna do if you do something--what-ifs--all these 'what ifs' start to mess with you inside and you can't really be honest with yourself."
