First Metallica experience
7/20/00 Giants Stadium, East Rutherford, NJ
My Tattoo the Earth Metallica Experience. Okay here is the whole story!
My
friend Jess and I went to the stadium Very early and went to the met booth. (She
had flown all the way from California.) They had made a mistake with where they
put the booth the floor people couldn't get to it. So we were standing outside
for hours waiting for them to work it out...finally this guy from the club
called Steve came out and checked out cards and gave us tickets to be in a
drawing to get back stage.
Well we waited another hour for the drawing...the good news was that they were
taking ten of the floor people backstage and there were 8 of us. That soon
changed and the bad news was that they found a few more of the floor people so
now there were about 20+ tickets in the bucket...and they did a separate drawing
for the stadium tickets inside.
They started picking tickets and all of the numbers were the lucky ones on the
other side of the fence. We were all crying practically, but being good. Then he
calls 303...I look down and go h...that's me. I was so calm I still can't
believe it.
They finally brought us backstage where we waited a bit longer. I gave the kid
next to me a pic for whoever came out to sign. He was really nice and I actually
got to talk to some really GREAT people while waiting. All of a sudden there was
a buzz and who comes walking out with Gio -JASON!!!!!!!! So Jason signs the
kid's stuff next to me and turns to me and says Hi. I said hi and handed him my
shirt...he signed it...then I asked him to sign a photo, which he did. Then
said he would sign one more so I gave him a picture that Jackie (my daughter)
drew of them. Well at this point he kind of flipped out over the drawing he
thought it was great. I thanked him, he kept saying over and over this is so
cool and really great. Then he said should I sign by me? I said yes, he goes
which one is me...then he said wait...this one...and he pointed and asked right?
So then he signed it and went to move away, and stopped and came back and said
what's this stand for...he was pointing to Lars drum kid...jacks had put a large
PM on the bass drum...I said it stood for puppet master...Her favorite song!
(Which is really Master of Puppets!) Jacks likes saying Puppet Master!
The concert was amazing...here are some tidbits on that:
I actually survived the FLOOR and several mosh pits thanks to Jess...We were
about 15 feet from the stage...it was AMAZING!!! The raw energy that pours off
of all of them is something to see live. When the show was over I was really
pumped up! I was impressed with them, and impressed with the crowd. The age span
was interesting. From the very young...to people even older then me. :D
